I did a second and a third drawing just like this, same size and everything, and ended up giving those away. I don't remember who the second one was for, but the third I gave to my congressman, Larry Combest (R-TX), during a visit to Capital Hill. It was also a bit of a coincidence that that was the same day that I found out I was accepted to West Point. The one I gave to Mr. Combest was much better quality than this first one, and it has a different tail design. I drew Calvin from the cartoon 'Calvin and Hobbes' taking a ppicture with a camera. This was the tail art that was on 099 during Desert Storm. (Whenever I draw a U-2, I always draw 099. Why? Because that was the tailnumber I used on this drawing, and every one since has had the tailnumber 099. Interesting, huh?)

This was the second drawing in pen and ink that I did. My first one, which is similar but smaller to 'Wingspan,' didn't come out nearly as well. I had some trouble with the tail, and I actually finished everything, and decided to tdo the tail over. I drew it on another piece, the same size, but with the corrections, then cut it out and pasted it over my originial. So this is nothing I'd ever hang up, but it might be suitable for making reproductions some day. All in all, I think it was a good exercise in pen and ink technique, but nothing I'd really want to show off in a gallery.
